COAT & GROOM TIPS

The coat is wavy to curly and varies in amount from one part of the body to another. The undercoat provides protection against weather or brush. However matts should be removed as well as excessive undercoat. The throat, neck and rear of the dog well-covered with hair. The coat is lightly trimmed for a neat appearance and some groomer shave the ears. No topknot. Feathering is kept neatened on the tail and legs that blends well with the wavy or curly coat.

The coat covering the body and neck is usually evenly trimmed with shears to 1 or 2 inches. Remove stray hairs underneath the foot between the pads with scissors, and scissor around the feet to a neat appearance. Blending shears can be used to smooth areas where the waves or curls are more excessive than others.

MORE GROOMING TIPS FOR PROFESSIONALS

The head skull should have a wide, flat look.

Don't clip the hair short on the tail. The feathering should be trimmed with scissors to create a crescent shape.

Multi-Breed Books

These books contain little or no breed specific grooming information. They do provide very good to excellent general breed information. Of course, having pictures of the breed is a great help when grooming the breed compared to having nothing else.
