COAT & GROOM TIPS

Although this breed requires minimal grooming, it is important to address its short double coat. Regular grooming helps to reduce shedding which may occur throughout the year.

The ears of the Boxer need special cleaning attention; some tend to collect more dirt and wax than others and which needs to be cleaned prior to the bath. A light trimming of the hairs around the ear can add a nice finished touch. Also some owners desire the whiskers to be clipped, but you should first check with the owner. Use scissors. Blending shears can be used as needed where seams of hair growing in different directions intersect.

Use a rubber brush during the bath to help loosen and remove shed. During the drying process expect additional shed. You can use your hands rubbing in a circular motion, or a hard rubber curry brush.

Whiteners will probably come in handy on discolored white areas of the coat. The oil of the coat may retain dirt that causes the discoloring.

Multi-Breed Books

These books contain little or no breed specific grooming information. They do provide very good to excellent general breed information. Of course, having pictures of the breed is a great help when grooming the breed compared to having nothing else.
