COAT & GROOM TIPS

The Brittany coat should never be curly and instead be flat or wavy. The dense texture is not wiry or silky.

Don't clip the ear fringe away. It may be neatened but not removed. Long or exceptional amounts of feathering should be reduced. In the show dog too much feathering or furnishings is a severe detriment in competition.

Very carefully clip to neaten the anus area with a #10 blade. Don't press on the skin.

You don't want to heavily fluff the coat of this breed which is easy to do while brushing with today's high velocity dryers.  Right after the bath you can use the force dryer to blow off water and then let the coat the dry without fluffing. Pin brush with the grain. The coat should lay flat when done. Pin brushing followed by a combing with the grain should achieve that sleek flat look.
