COAT & GROOM TIPS

The Cairn Terrier coat is hard and weather-resistant and double-coated with plenty of firm outer coat and short, soft, close furry undercoat.

Thinning shears can come in very handy for most Cairn Terriers (often hand stripped for show) using clipper and scissors. Stray hairs on the top of the muzzle are prime for thinning shears, instead of clipping with a blade.

When clipping this breed follow the grain of the coat. Do not even go across the grain. Scissor the feet for a rounded look.

MORE GROOMING TIPS FOR PROFESSIONALS

Thinning shears can come in very handy for Cairn Terrier cuts. Stray hairs on the top of the muzzle are prime for thinning shears, instead of clipping with a blade. You want to leave a rounded effect to the overall styling of the head.

Cairn Terriers may have hair growing on the inside corners of their eyes which should be very carefully removed with scissors.
