COAT & GROOM TIPS

The Irish Terrier coat should be very dense and wiry, almost hiding the skin even when the haircoat is parted. Show grooming requires hand stripping by a professional only.

Thinning shears can come in very handy for most Irish Terrier cuts (often hand stripped for show) using clipper and scissors. Stray hairs on the top of the muzzle are prime for thinning shears, instead of clipping with a blade.

MORE GROOMING TIPS FOR PROFESSIONALS

When clipping this breed follow the grain of the coat. Do not even go across the grain.

Multi-Breed Books

These books contain little or no breed specific grooming information. They do provide very good to excellent general breed information. Of course, having pictures of the breed is a great help when grooming the breed compared to having nothing else.
