COAT & GROOM TIPS

Showing the dog requires a well-managed full coat and very specialized styling.

Kerry Blue Terriers have a wavy, dense and soft coat that requires regular grooming. Unlike many other Terrier breeds the wiry coat is not desired, and that means a soft coat is required. Soft coats involve risk of tangling and matting when not regularly groomed. Styling the Kerry Blue Terrier is unique and striking.

We highly recommend acquiring a how-to grooming guide from the sources below. The complexity of styling this breed is well above-average using both clippers and scissors. Working with a reference picture can be essential.

Multi-Breed Books

These books contain little or no breed specific grooming information. They do provide very good to excellent general breed information. Of course, having pictures of the breed is a great help when grooming the breed compared to having nothing else.
