COAT & GROOM TIPS

Brush and remove undercoat before the bath, then blow dry. There is little or no finishing. You can neaten the tail with blending shears.

Black and chocolate coats look beautiful with a light finish spray of coat gloss. You can do the same with Yellow as desired.

MORE GROOMING TIPS FOR PROFESSIONALS

Don't fluff dry with the intent to add volume to the coat, it is meant to be flat. Brush the pet in the direction of coat grain. Some owners may want the whiskers trimmed with scissors.

"I groom a lot of Labs in the shop I manage and the biggest complaints from customers is "the shedding." Being the owner of a Black Lab myself, and hating the shed all over my house, I start shaving mine with a #9 blade doing a cut from the base of the head to the base of the tail, using thinning shears to blend in tail and head. I also will use a #4 blade on the tail and scissor up a bit, and they look beautiful! It solves the shedding problem." Submitted by Kellie, a Lab groomer.

Multi-Breed Books

These books contain little or no breed specific grooming information. They do provide very good to excellent general breed information. Of course, having pictures of the breed is a great help when grooming the breed compared to having nothing else.
