COAT & GROOM TIPS

Show Scottish Terriers are hand stripped and not clipped.

Scottish Terriers have a double coat. The undercoat is soft and dense, and the outer coat is more wiry and stiff. The soft undercoat tends to tangle and matt much more easily, especially if the dog gets wet or even damp.

The art of styling an Scottish Terrier is somewhat complex and we recommend you use a styling guide.

MORE GROOMING TIPS FOR PROFESSIONALS

You may want to use a shampoo recommended for Terrier coats. Scottish Terriers in some area tend to have dry skin and coat and a protein based shampoo can restore body.

Multi-Breed Books

These books contain little or no breed specific grooming information. They do provide very good to excellent general breed information. Of course, having pictures of the breed is a great help when grooming the breed compared to having nothing else.
