COAT & GROOM TIPS

Use a natural bristle brush once or twice a month and the need for bathing the dog will be minimal under normal conditions. During the bath a rubber brush can remove hair shed.

Don't forget to scissor any long hairs under the feet even with the pads, and trim any other stray hairs around the feet. It is not common on this breed.

To prevent water from entering ears be sure to place cotton balls in the ears. If the pet has white areas using a whitening shampoo or rinse on those areas.

Once bathed and dried, a light spray of coat conditioner or coat gloss adds a beautiful touch. Mink oil is another option.

An aloe skin cream or similar gentle moisturizer can be used to soften dry or calloused elbows.

Use scissors to clip whiskers per the owner's wishes.

A Hound Brush can be used after the Weimaraner is bathed and dried to remove dead hair and smooth its appearance.

MORE GROOMING TIPS FOR PROFESSIONALS

This breed doesn't need to bathed often, but use a natural bristle brush every 2 weeks with a light amount of coat conditioner to maintain a healthy coat.

If there are haircoat seams where two different areas of growth come together at uneven angles, you can blend the seam with blending shears.

If you are experienced in "carding" a coat with a stripping knife, the Weimaraner coat can benefit from it using a stripping knife like a comb (trained professionals only).

Multi-Breed Books

These books contain little or no breed specific grooming information. They do provide very good to excellent general breed information. Of course, having pictures of the breed is a great help when grooming the breed compared to having nothing else.
