Grooming
prices vary from coast to coast and beyond. It's a fun topic
and not easily researched. Fortunately for you
PetGroomer.com has conducted the largest
grooming price surveys in history. If you are
a business owner please take one of grooming
price surveys once a year.
Many groomers
like to discuss prices on the GroomerTALK
Message Board. It's not legal to actually
share your prices with another prices in order
to set prices ("price fixing") but
you can talk about prices in general.
Here's a great hint based on our experience in
financial planning for grooming businesses;
the overall average service for a typical
grooming business is the same as their fee for
a complete trim and
bath on a Miniature Poodle. This
means, add up the total dollar amount
charged for complete trim and bath services for
all dogs groomed in one year, and divide
that number by the total number of grooming
services provided to earn those dollars, and the result
is not only the "average service fee" but also should be close to
fee charged for a Miniature Poodle complete
trim and bath. For example, $20,000 for
services provided, divided by
500 grooming services, equals $40 average
service fee. Use that as a basis to
add more for larger dogs and more complex stylings, and lower for er pets or less
labor stylings. It usually works!
If you are
ever in the company of groomers and you need
to "cut the ice," ask them about grooming
prices, price sheets and increases. In no time
you should have a lively discussion. |
