Introduction

Professionals groomers are often overlooked as one of the biggest contributors to pet health. Every day thousands of groomers recommend pet owners to veterinarians for a diagnosis of a suspect conditions discovered by the professional groomer. Most pet owners do not follow a preventative medical program for their pets and instead wait until there is a problem. Groomers see, touch, and smell pets from head to tail as part of a professional groomed, and naturally they come to discover many health conditions. Professional groomers know they have saved many pets from discomfort, and even death. So what about groomers becoming more informed of their health potentially affected by grooming pets?

Recently a groomer asked us to open this Groomer Health Main Menu. What a great suggestion!

"I would like to know the effects of all this dander, fur, Staph, etc. that we inhale daily. I've asked a Dr. about it and he said, 'That's nothing to worry over. The body breaks it down.' So why is my respiratory system such a mess? What are the concerns, prevention, testing? Actually a section for groomer health would be a good thing. Thanks for your consideration." Lisa

Everyone knows there are threats to the health of groomers by aggressive pets, and perhaps slips and falls in wet bathing areas and improper lifting of large dogs. Actually there are many more concerns, and every groomer can apply preventive measures to better protect their health that may be affected by grooming pets.
