You are going to be
handling some very valuable inventory, living inventory and of course you
don't want to harm a single pet. However, a surprising number of pets are
injured each year in grooming businesses, and at least a few dozen die in
the U.S. each year.
Since the industry is not
formally licensed and thereby founded on mutually agreed standards of pet
care, everyone can learn a lot more about safe and humane practices in a pet
grooming operation.
Remember, your business is at risk if through negligence
your business harms or kills a pet. Beginning in the late 1990's, for the first time,
courts started to award sizeable judgments against pet care business
owners where negligence was proven. Besides that, providing humane pet care
is simply a great thing to do for people and pets, and a real self-esteem
booster.
