Discussion of the Survey
PetGroomer.com conducted
the survey online during the entire year of 2006. It was the first pricing
survey conducted by PetGroomer.com wherein mobile groomers were asked to
complete a separate pricing survey for mobile groomers only. Considering mobile
grooming prices are generally higher than non-mobile groomers, it is no surprise
that some of the average prices in the 2006 survey were slightly lower than the
2005 survey results for similar pet care services. Keep in mind the percentage
of mobile groomers taking the 2005 was less than 10% of all groomers surveyed
because there are many thousands more salons, shops, home groomers etc than
mobile groomers. Therefore the impact of removing the "generally higher" mobile
groomer prices from the 2006 was not pronounced, but slight.
During 2006 the response to the 2005 survey results (which included mobile
groomers) ran the gamut. We heard everything from the results seemed low, outrageously high to
just right. Therefore we remind everyone once again the results are averages. In the same county, city or rural
area fees obviously differ. Here we take the results by a defined region and
average them. So you can expect that some prices will be lower or higher than
your actual prices. If you would like to discuss the results of our pricing
surveys you can do so at GroomerTALK Message Board, but please avoid sharing
your actual grooming prices which is against the terms of use for the board due
to legal concerns for price fixing allegations.
Once again the overall the highest
average fees were assessed in the Middle Atlantic region (New York, Pennsylvania and
New Jersey). The next highest prices were commonly found in New England (Maine,
New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island). The lowest
average fees originated in the West North Central region (North and South
Dakotas, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska and Kansas).
