Bouvier des Flandres Tips
When grooming the head I use thinning shears from the brow bone to the occiput in the place of a blade as a clippered skull tends to appear too domed.. You get a strong flat looking skull and a tidier end result. NEVER bath a Bouvier with matts. On some breeds matts will brush out after bathing but on this breed they will simply become cement with no hope of getting them out again. When combing through pay particular attention to matts between the toes these can easily go unnoticed. Fluff dry with a strait pin pin brush (the one without the knobs on the ends) against the grain with long upward strokes making sure to get down to the skin all over the entire dog. For pet trims a 3 and 31/4 blade ( Also called simply a "3" depending on manufacturer) on the body and a scissored leg looks smart and lasts longer then the clip-on-comb cut. While maintaining the breeds look. Megan Laverty |
