I have found that when you shave these dogs down that you don't have to do a rough cut first. The first cut should be your only cut if you have a cocker that needs a number 5 down the back and legs just do a number 4 blade against the grain (reverse) and the cut is done before the bath then all you do is bath fluff and finish it saves a good 45 min into your groom.
