Reducing Grooming Time

I have timed a lot of similarly matted dogs of different breeds (most notably Bichons, Shih Tzus, Mininature Poodles and smaller mixed breed dogs) and found that it is ALWAYS faster to brush out only the largest mats first then bathe the dog and brush the rest out under the dryer, rather than trying to brush out every mat before the bath. I also find that the dogs seem to mind dematting less when the dryer is on, and mats seem to brush out easier when the dryer is parting the hair for you.
