Poor Benji was expelled from his regular groomer for biting (he has advanced arthritis, sight issues and is deaf in one ear). Benji’s people are disabled & have mobility issues; there was no other groomer within their range and mobile groomers are beyond their means. Benji went over 6 months without grooming. Benji’s people also have difficulty brushing and such, he came to live with them prior to their disabilities. I noticed Benji when I stopped at a local convenience store and started up a conversation with his people, gained their trust and offered to get him cleaned up.

I drove to Benji’s house, picked him up and started in on making this dog’s life better. … I had my work cut out for me. First I want to say that this dog was the perfect gentleman! As I first examined him, hoping to be able to save some of his coat, I found fleas, mats to the skin, and many foreign objects caught in his fur. A shave down was necessary, along with a special shampoo to help his skin out.

3 hours of gentle clipping, gentle massage during a total of 3 baths and some touch up with my trusty scissors, made for a very happy dog in the end! His patience, complete cooperation and trust made this such a rewarding experience. Benji’s family was so happy to see him! I would do this again for another dog without hesitation, it makes such a difference.
