This is Max the Maltese. His owner made an appointment and brought him in for grooming with no comment on his current condition. Clearly no one had told them before that the Maltese really isn't an outdoor only kind of breed. He had no input on his dog's grooming beforehand (not that it would have mattered) or the final results, but Max's change in attitude spoke volumes. His bangs were matted into the gunk around his eyes and mouth when he came in, it was obvious he had been in that condition for awhile, but once he could see the world again he was ready to enjoy it. He was a perfect angel for the groom--the kind of dog that is so truly appreciative, he's willing to trust in you entirely. The tip of his tail was the only part without a mat, so I saved it only for the dog's sake--I didn't want him to go home to a family laughing at him and nick-naming him, "Rat Dog," though he really looked quite cute naked anyway. Sort of like a makeshift Chihuahua. Who knew those ears wanted to stand up under that mess of hair?
