The article says, "Treated like a piece of garbage, a horribly matted, extremely emaciated and badly injured Shih Tzu was discarded in a garbage bag and would not have been found were it not for Newark resident, Darius Webster's pitbull who refused to leave the bag alone. After the dog had been shaved down it was that she had suffered a crushed left paw."

A Second Chance for Aurora

I received a phone call from owners who had adopted a female Shih Tzu named "Aurora" from the Newark Humane Society. They wanted to meet to go over pet sitting. When we met they began telling me about Aurora's heartbreaking story. Aurora had been badly abused and placed in a plastic bag and thrown into a dumpster. If it wasn't for a man and his dog out walking, Aurora would not be here today. It was the dog who barked until she was noticed. She was brought to the Humane Society and they were able to save Aurora's crushed leg and injured eye. Aurora got a second chance at life and soon was adopted by loving and caring owners.

I began pet visits once daily which Aurora seemed to enjoy. The next week was her grooming appointment. It took several sessions to groom her allowing her to get used to the grooming experience. Each session was short to let her know she can trust again. It wasn't long before her owners' noticed she was getting depressed and this is why they brought home another dog for her to have company. She became more energetic in no time and enjoyed playing with her companion. They get along so well now and cuddle. They are regulars at my home and come over for grooming. They also stay with me 10 days a year. Aurora and her new companion now live happily ever after.
