Wally

Wally's elderly owner has been convalescing since falling down her basement stairs. Some ladies from her church started helping her out after the accident, caring for her pets and her home. Although her West Highland White Terriers were kept in show form in the past, Wally and the other six westies had been seriously neglected for quite some time.

So the generous church ladies brought all seven westies to me for makeovers -- for the health and comfort of the dogs and to help them find new homes. Although some of the other dogs were in more desperate shape, Wally is the oldest, somewhere around 13. The brown overlaying his coat was a mixture of dirt, urine, saliva, feces, and who-knows-what. The matting was too intense and his skin too sensitive to save his westie vibe, but a wet shave with a #5, nail trim, ear flush, and finish groom gave him a fresh new outlook!

His total makeover won't be complete until the urine stains disappear, his skin and ears are clear, his remaining teeth are cleaned or pulled, and (the greatest makeover of all) he's safely neutered. But here's hoping that this makeover grooming has accomplished what every groomer hopes for -- that someone will fall in love with the look and feel… and with the dog as well. Wally is a sweet old man who loves to cuddle and deserves deliverance from the land of Smells Rotten to the land of Spoiled Rotten.
