We believe you would agree that very high quality scissors and shears costing $500 or more are well handcrafted. Is there some other advantage? In our experience as groomers and rubbing shoulders with hundreds of highly skilled groomers we know there is another reason justifying these fine scissors and shears. Productivity. We know, and most we talk to agree, you can reduce the finish grooming time by as much as 5 minutes or more with top quality scissors. You can argue the styling will end up looking the same, but whenever we can reduce wear and tear on our bodies in grooming, we leap for the advantage. In several tests we ran we found that when using average scissors or shears, it would take perhaps 500 to 1,000 "snips" of the tools to complete a grooming. When using the best quality shears there was a 20% reduction in the number of snips. Therefore it took less time to scissor finish, and that boosts productivity. Groomers we interviewed as said it was joy to use the best quality because in general, the tool was working with them, and not against, easing the wear and tear on their joints and muscles. On the flip side, some groomers noted they used average quality shears because if they dropped them and they became unusable, well their heart didn't sink as much!
