From Booklist
This large-format, colorfully illustrated handbook will find a place on library shelves where a good, general instruction manual for grooming one's own pet and even establishing oneself as a professional groomer is called for. The text is to the point and attractively arrayed across the page. The first chapter covers basic coat types, and subsequent chapters present information on maintenance of a healthy coat and on routine coat care. The path to creating a grooming career is carefully laid out, and most of the book is given over to the grooming needs of specific breeds of dogs. Brad Hooper

Book Description
More that 500 color photographs and line drawings throughout. Several breeds include line drawings with grooming instructions step-by-step. The book covers 170 dog breeds. Experienced groomers unfamiliar with grooming a particular breed are likely to favor the color photograph of each breed versus breed drawings only as in some other grooming books. Actually the combination of a color photograph and line drawing instruction for every recognized breed is the real ultimate grooming book to be published someday. The first section covers caring for and grooming the pet dog: how to keep coats healthy; tips for routine care; and advice for choosing a groomer. The second section covers grooming as a profession: advice for starting a grooming business; choosing and buying equipment; the grooming process; detecting coat and skin disorders; and instructions for handling problems that can commonly arise. The third section covers specific information for individual breeds. Each chapter is dedicated to a coat type, with step-by-step instructions for grooming each breed from start to finish. There is a great deal of valuable information presented in this book, but The All Breed Dog Grooming Guide by Sam Kohl and Notes From The Grooming Table by Melissa Verplank, CMG will probably find more favor with seasoned groomers as a day-to-day reference. However, if you favor color photographs to work from this is definitely a book to add to your professional grooming library. You won't find a similar abundance of color breed photographs in any other grooming book.
