My name is Mia Overnas and I live in Sweden. I run a grooming shop called "Trimkompaniet." (that's the grooming company in English.). We are located in Uppsala -70 kilometers north of the Stockholm, the capital of Sweden. I groom all breeds and cats also. There are only 2 grooming shops in this town that is one of the biggest towns in Sweden. So there is plenty of work for us here. I have about 4 weeks waiting time for my clients. I have one girl helping me with pre-clipping and bathing. In Sweden we don't have these big grooming shops like you have in the U.S. We only do one dog at the time and often its a one-man operation. We have no grooming schools here. So if you want to learn how to groom you have to go as a student at a grooming shop. Sadly you never learn about the business part. So reading the book From Problems to Profits was a great discovery for me. I have been grooming since 1990, and in 1998 I discovered grooming competitions. I went to France and in my first competition I won a Silver Medal in the Poodle Class. After that I go to grooming competitions every year all over Europe. I also have been invited to the Oster European Tournament of Champions every year since 1998. Last year I went to Intergroom in New Jersey and competed in the Poodle, mixed breed, hand stripped and Oster Tournament of Champions class. Sadly we don't have any grooming competitions or a grooming organizations here. In my free time I breed and show apricot Poodles and Wire-haired Fox Terriers.
